Livre Veerle Poupeye Caribbean Art Thames and HudsonLtd, Londres, 1998 This is illustrated by the work of Martiniquans Louis Laouchez and Serge Hélénon, who joined forces in 1970 as the Ecole Négro-Caraïbe (Negro-Caribbean School) and defined their work as Afro-Caribbean art with universalist aspirations. Their cultural allegiances are reflected in Laouchez’ picto-graphic painting style, which reminds of African and Caribbean Amerindian rock paintings.
